Lions win Redcliff tournament

Antigonish Mini Lions won the Redcliff Invitational basketball tournament recently in Truro. The Antigonish Mini Lions, coached by Denton Anthony and Robbie Roach, won gold at the Redcliff tournament recently.
The Lions defeated Temperance 50-35 in opening round action.
Jack Pittman, the player of the game, scored 22 points and Callan Sutherland added eight points.
Also scoring were Sam Anthony with six points and Willie Bowie, Jordan Phee and Alex Le Blanc each with four points. Zack Foran contributed two points in the win.
The Lions followed up with a 35-15 victory over the Redcliff team.
Pittman scored 16 points and game star Anthony and Foran each supplied four points. LeBlanc and Phee each chipped in with three points and Bowie and Bryden MacMaster each contributed two points.
Rounding out the scorers was Sutherland with one point.
Antigonish nipped Wallace 31-29, the outcome determined at the buzzer.
Player of the game Jack Pittman scored 13 points and Bowie contributed six. Also scoring were Foran with four and Phee, Anthony, LeBlance and Sutherland with two points each.
The Lions captured top honours with a 31-28 win over Wallace with LeBlanc the player of the game.
Pittman paced the offense with 14 points and Anthony and Sutherland contributed six each. LeBlanc and Bowie scored two points and Tazman Roach added one.
The tournament also featured a skills competition with Pittman taking top honours in ball handling and Phee and Bryden O’Handley teaming up to win the free throw shooting event.
The Antigonish Mini Lions handed the visiting Frank H. MacDonald Elementary School team a 51-14 loss in basketball action last week.
Pittman scored 25 points for Antigonish with Bowie adding six points. Also scoring for the winners were Anthony, Johannes Harrison-Steinhart and Foran, each with four points, and MacMaster, Jordan Phee LeBlanc and Sutherland with two points each.
