Bulldogs in minor hockey action

Tanner Doiron, Scotsburn Major Bantam Crushers, earned most valuable player honours at the 2012 Spud “AAA” hockey tournament Feb. 2 to 5 in Charlottetown. The Crushers went 6-0 in the 18-team tournament, including a 3-2 win in triple overtime against the Western Hurricanes. Doiron, the son of Cindy and Bruce, is a native of Pomquet. (Submitted photo)

The Antigonish Bantam female Bulldogs completed regular season play with a pair of wins last weekend. The Dogs finished in first place in the North Conference
Saturday, at the Keating Center, the Bulldogs nipped Colchester Cyclones 2-1.
   Emma Boudreau scored an unassisted marker in the second period and Kerilyn Kennedy fired the game-winner in the third. Cynthia MacDonald and Boudreau assisted on the play.
Amy Murdock was the goal scorer for the Cyclones.
    The Bulldogs then skated to an 11-0 win over Cape Breton County.
Shauna Campbell and Boudreau each notched a pair of first period goals with Sponagle adding a single goal to give the Dogs a 5-0 lead heading into the second frame.
Kara Chisholm and Meaghie MacDonald provided goals in the middle frame and Chisholm concluded her hat-trick with a two-goal outburst in the third. Campbell and Brigid O’Connor also found the net in the third.
Sponagle contributed three assists in the game with Chisholm adding a pair. Breagh MacEachern and Campbell both added solo assists.

The Pee Wee “AA’” Bulldogs played Tuesday night in Westville, skating to a 3-3 tie with Pictou County Crushers.
Patti Anne Tracey, Robbie Miller and Jamie Boyle were the Bulldog goal scorers.
Friday night, the Dogs played against the Brookfield Elks at the Keating Centre and left the ice surface with a loss of 3-2.
Goal scorers were Paul McCarron and Robbie Miller.

The Midget “AA” Bulldogs played a home-and-home series with the Truro Bearcats last weekend.
The Bulldogs won the opener at home 4-2.
Goal scorers were Ryan MacDonald, Stephen Chisholm, James Briand and Logan Delorey. Assists were added by Riley Hudson, with a pair, Briand, Bryden Gerrior, Tyler vanOirschot, Charlie DeWilde and Patrick Williams.
The Bulldogs travelled to Debert Saturday for the re-match and were defeated 2-1.
Hudson was the goal scorer with assists from Steven Gillis and vanOirschot.
