Minor hoop teams compete

Antigonish Mini Royals competed in three exhibition games last weekend, opening with a 38-18 victory over the AG Baillie Bears.
Jessie Weaver scored eight points for Antigonish with Jasmin Desmond and Lilly MacFarlane each supplying seven points.
Rebecca Lambke chipped in with four points.
The Royals handed Glace Bay a 48-13 loss.
Hannah Bance and Marly Murray each contributed 10 points with Desmond scoring seven. Also supplying points for the Royals were Weaver and Gabrielle Jenkins with six points each and Briar MacDonald with five.
In their final game of the weekend the Royals dropped a 33-31 decision to Redcliff Eagles from Bible Hill.
Bance scored 10 points with MacDonald adding eight. MacFarlane and Mollie MacDonald had seven and four points, respectively.
The Antigonish Royals claimed a pair of games of the St. Margaret’s Bay SLAM in exhibition girls’ basketball action Sunday at Saint Andrew Jr. School.
Antigonish won the opener 50-14 with Riley Sood pacing the Antigonish offense with 16 points.
Elise Breen and Abbie MacIntosh each contributed eight points and Gemma MacPherson scored six points.
The Royals won the rematch 54-14.
Post player Brianna Gottschall scored 21 points in the victory with Sood chipping in with eight points. MacIntosh scored six points in the game.
The Royals will compete in tournament action Friday and Saturday in Truro.
