Coach Jeffery Williams, Chicago, spent the weekend at the Xavier Taekwondo Club, leading training sessions for the competitive members of the Antigonish club.
Athletes, coached by Jeremy Reeve, received 13 hours of training from Williams.
Williams is the coach of two United States national champions and an Olympic athlete.
He is going to Argentina with his athletes to participate in tournament action.
“It was such a great honour to be at such a wonderful club for the weekend,” Williams said.
“Everyone treated me like family and I will forever be grateful. I am so appreciative of this opportunity to share my ideas and thoughts on the sport of taekwondo with such amazing athletes.”
Reeve said he was pleased with the event.
“Coach Williams brought out the best of our athletes with his energy and motivational skills,” the Xavier coach said.
“Throughout the weekend the progression that our athletes showed was amazing and we are looking forward to our next competition”
For most of the club, the next competition will be the Xavier Taekwondo Championships slated for Antigonish in October.
Xavier athlete Aidan MacDonald will participate in the 2013 Pan American Championships in Mexico Sept. 20.
MacDonald is a member of the 12 to 14 year-old National team and will represent Team Canada at the Pan Am Championships.
