Silver for U-15 boys in tourney action

The Antigonish Celtics U-15 boys’ soccer team captured silver at the recent Bruce Wagner Memorial Soccer Tournament in Sackville.

    In the championship match, the rival CC Riders edged the Celtics 2-1.

    Player of the game Jesse Frizzle scored for Antigonish.

    In the round-robin opener, the same teams tied 2-2.

    Player of the game Elijah Boisvert and Stephen Thompson scored for the Celtics.

    Led by shutout goalkeeping by Tyler Doiron, Antigonish garnered their first victory of the tournament – 2-0 – over Sackville.

    Player of the game Sam Colton and Sam Grant scored for the Celtics.

    Doiron earned another shutout in a 1-0 win over East Hants, with Luke Rennie notching the lone Celtic marker.

League-leaders tie

    In Highland League action, Aug. 7, the Antigonish U-13 Celtics and CC Riders of Truro battled to a 1-1 draw.

    Gracie Bowie scored for Antigonish.

    In the standings, CC Riders and Antigonish are in first and second place, respectively.
