Food and fellowship

Posted on September 8, 2017

Cultural Connections Antigonish (CCA) is preparing for its fifth season of “offering food and fellowship to our diverse community.”
Everyone is invited to come – and bring a dish to share – to the next community potluck, which is scheduled for Sunday, Sept. 24, beginning at 5:30, at St. James United Church Hall in downtown Antigonish.
“Please join us to welcome our new community members,” an organization announcement said, noting the first potluck of the upcoming season will “celebrate our international students.”
As its website outlines – https://culturalconnectionsantigonish.wordpress.com – CCA formed, organically, four years ago from “a desire to provide a meeting place for the various cultures represented in the Antigonish community, and to welcome newcomers.”
The focal point for the group, since its inception, has been organizing and hosting the aforementioned regular potluck gatherings.
“These events have been hugely successful, and have benefited from the leadership of a group of energetic leaders, as well as close collaboration with St. F.X.’s international student community,” the CCA website adds.
Organizers said everyone who attends the CCA gatherings “enjoys a rich cultural mix from our Antigonish area.”
The group encouraged people – whether long-time or new residents – “to consider sharing their favourite dish of food.”
And, of course, children are always welcome at every potluck celebration.
