Silver medal performance for Midget ‘A’ Bulldogs

It was a silver-medal performance for the midget ‘A’ Bulldogs at the recent Western Valley tournament in Bridgetown.

    Antigonish dropped a 6-4 decision to the South Shore in the championship game.

    Reid MacPherson scored twice for the Bulldogs, while Ben Simms and Duncan Chisholm added singles.

    Antigonish opened play with a 4-3 setback to West Hants.

    Ryan McGinn, Craig Landry and Jessie Tenbrinke were the Bulldog goal scorers.

    Shamus Thomson and Ben Simms tallied in a 6-2 loss to the host team.

    Alexander Jacques scored the overtime goal in a 4-3 victory over Eastern Shore.

    Pat Boyle, MacPherson and Ryan McGinn found the net in regulation for the Bulldogs.

    In the semi-final game – a rematch with Western Valley – Antigonish skated to a 5-1 win.

    McGinn scored a pair, while Nolan MacPhee, Ben Broussard and Simms added singles.


Peddle shines

    There was plenty of action during the recent Antigonish Minor Hockey Association (AMHA) Atom ‘AA’ Scramble.

    The two-day event took place Nov. 24 and 25.

    In first day action, Brady Peddle of the Antigonish Bulldogs scored four goals in an 8-1 victory over Pictou ‘Red.’

    Campbell Barrett, with two, Austin Tate and Kendall Doiron also tallied for Antigonish.

    On day two,        Peddle, Owen Bell, Trent Stewart and Jack Hayne scored for the Bulldogs in an 11-4 loss to Glace Bay.

    Peddle scored another hat-trick for Antigonish in a 7-1 win over the Strait Pirates.

    Quinn Mattie, with two, Jesse Partridge and Hayne also scored for the home team.

    Nolan MacNeil tallied for the Pirates.

    In a 5-3 loss to Pictou ‘Red,’ Tyson MacNeil, Alex Martell and Kyle Linden scored for the Pirates. 

Midget ‘AA’ split

    The Antigonish Midget ‘AA’ Bulldogs split a pair of games with Cape Breton County.

    In a 3-1 loss, Scott Chiasson scored the lone Bulldog goal, while Owen MacDonald was between the pipes.

    In a 5-2 victory, Robbie Miller scored twice, while John Brophy, Peter Bekkers and Brandon DeYoung added singles.  

    Kuri Smith earned the goaltending win.

Shutout win

    Cohen MacDonald and Tucker Broussard shared the shutout for the Antigonish Atom ‘A’ Bulldogs in a 6-0 home win over the Strait Pirates.

    Ben Kavanaugh led the offense with four goals, while Sebastian Lumsden and Ian Decoste added one apiece.

    In a 3-2 loss to Brookfield, Aiden Bowie and Logan Phinney scored for the Bulldogs.

    Kavanaugh scored the lone goal for Antigonish in a 5-1 loss to Brookfield.
