The Heatherton Warriors picked up their third win of the Antigonish Rural League season with a wild 8-7 victory over the County Outlaws Dec. 16.
Reilly Bowie led the Warriors offensively with a hat-trick plus an assist.
Alex Chisholm scored twice for Heatherton while Tim Teasdale scored once and added three assists. Kevin Day had a goal and an assist, Milan Boyd a goal, Trevor Chisholm and Jason Tait three assists each, and Brian Day two assists.
Craig Rankin scored twice for the Outlaws while adding an assist. Nick Allard scored once and added an assist, while Shawn Long, Tyler McLaren, Brennan Forgeron and Sam Gorman each added one goal.
In the later game, St. Croix knocked off league-leading Pleasantdale 4-2.
Tim MacPherson scored once and added an assist for the winners while Spensor Barron, Ryan Dobson and Seamus Brophy each scored a goal.
Floyd MacDonald scored and assisted on Cory MacLellan’s tally for the Panthers.
The victory moved St. Croix to within four points of Pleasantdale in league standings (23 to 19) while the Outlaws remained at 16 following their loss, and Heatherton jumped up to eight.
This Saturday’s (Dec. 30) action includes a skills competition along with Pleasantdale facing-off versus the Outlaws at 7 p.m. and St. Croix battling the Warriors at 8:30 p.m.
