PHAST stroking into provincial swim season

The Port Hawkesbury Antigonish Swim Team (PHAST) spread out across the province, Jan. 12 to 14, and racked up top eight finishes.
Five senior age group swimmers hit the water at DAL-PLEX where Aidan Doucet placed fifth in the 100m butterfly, sixth in the 50m butterfly and seventh in the 100m backstroke. Josh Elsworth placed third in the 50m butterfly and 200m backstroke, fourth in the 50m and 100m freestyle and fifth in 50m breaststroke.
Abby Poffenroth placed second in the 100m breaststroke, third in the 200m backstroke, fourth in the 50m breaststroke and 200m medley, fifth in the 200m freestyle, sixth in the 50m freestyle and eighth in the 100m freestyle. Lily Poffenroth placed third in the 50m freestyle, fourth in the 100m backstroke and freestyle and sixth in the 50m backstroke.
Anna Robinson placed first in the 200m, 400m and 800m freestyle, second in the 50m freestyle, 50m and 200m backstroke, 200m medley, fourth in the 50m butterfly and breaststroke. Robinson set team long course records for 11 to 12 girls in 400 and 800m freestyle.
Thirteen junior age group swimmers traveled to CFB Greenwood where Hannah Austen placed second in the 100m breaststroke and 200m medley, third in the 50m breaststroke, fourth in the 200m freestyle, and seventh in the 100m freestyle. Mariah Austen placed sixth in the 200m backstroke. Riley Avery placed fourth in the 1500m freestyle and sixth in the 200m backstroke.
Elena Barzanti won first in the 200m and 400m freestyle, second in the 50m backstroke and freestyle, third in the 200m medley, and fourth in the 50m butterfly. Colleen MacLeod won first place in the 50m breaststroke, and placed third in the 50m backstroke and 100m freestyle, sixth in the 50m freestyle and 100m backstroke.
