Earlier this fall, two communities joined together with their local Shoppers Drug Marts for a successful fundraising effort in support of women’s health initiatives, in Antigonish and Port Hawkesbury.
Donations from the Shoppers’ Love. You. 2017 Growing Women’s Health campaign, were presented to Cathy Novak, founder of Cathy’s Place – the Cancer Research Room at St. Martha’s Regional Hospital, Jan. 24, by Colleen O’Connor and Margie Crowell, pharmacist/owner of Shoppers Drug Marts in Port Hawkesbury and Antigonish, respectively.
“We’re thrilled with the success of the 2017 Growing Women’s Health campaign,” O’Connor and Crowell said in a joint statement.
“Each year, our customers and staff demonstrate their generousity and their commitment to supporting women in our community and we couldn’t be more proud of everyone’s contribution. The Cancer Research Room plays an important role in our community and the proceeds from this year’s campaign will go a long way towards helping them further that work.”
The campaign is a four-week program held across Canada each fall. Between the two community stories in the region, more than $7,000 was raised for Cathy’s Place.
