Soon, the rubber will hit the tracks at Riverside Speedway, at one of the biggest annual sporting events in the province – and all for a worthy cause.

Tickets are now on sale for the IWK 250 Super Race Weekend – the main event in a weekend jam-packed full of epic races at the Riverside Speedway.

The guest of honour at this year’s event is Kenny Wallace, no stranger to the world of racing. Wallace is one of the most well-known NASCAR personalities, and a member of the FOX Sports Racing NASCAR broadcast team.

Wallace will be racing against a solid roster of stock car racers from six provinces and one state. A total of 37 teams are already registered, all eager to compete for a grand prize of $10,000, a custom-built IWK 250 champions trophy – with their name engraved on the permanent event trophy, the John W. Chisholm Memorial Cup.

But the fun is not limited to the IWK 250 on July 14. The Henry’s AUTOPRO Sportsman 150 for the NAPA Sportsman Series, and the Maritime Legends Challenge for the Maritime League of Legends will be taking place on July 13.

At the time of writing, there were 81 teams signed up for the three events.

The three-day event will begin on July 12, with a tailgate party featuring the acoustic party band sounds of Signal Hill. Also, there will be a tribute to a Canadian stock car racer who traces strong roots back to Riverside Speedway – the late Don Biederman. Tow vintage race cars restored in his honour will be on display at the track on July 13 and 14.

Since the first time it was held in 2007, the IWK 250 has raised $438,000 and a great deal of awareness for the IWK Foundation.
