ANTIGONISH, N.S. - The St. F.X. X-Men and X-Women soccer teams are off to strong starts in AUS play as both teams earned home-pitch victories Sept. 8 and 9.

Playing against the Université de Moncton Aigles Bleus on Saturday and the UNB Varsity Reds on Sunday, the X-Men won both contests 2-0.

Scoring on Saturday was Lewis Dye and William Warren while on Sunday it was Dan Hayfield and Tane Caubo.

St. F.X. keeper William Venoit recorded both shutout victories.

The X-Women, playing against the same two schools, posted a 3-2 win against the Aigles Bleus Saturday and a 1-0 victory over UNB Sunday.

Scoring versus UdeM was Kelsey Ellis with two goals and Mercy Myles with other X tally.

Larissa White had the lone goal in the UNB game while keeper Emma Kuzmyk recorded the shutout and her second victory on the new season.

The two teams play host to arch-rival, the University of Cape Breton, this Friday (Sept. 14) with the women’s game starting at 5 p.m. and the men’s to follow at 7:15 p.m.

Both contests at Oland Stadium.

The teams hit the road the following day for their first regular season away-games; in Halifax versus the St. Mary’s Huskies.
