PHOTOS: Canada Day kicks off in Antigonish

Fireworks postponed until Tuesday due to weather conditions

ANTIGONISH, N.S. —

Hundreds of people kicked off their Canada Day Monday morning (July 1) with a delicious pancake breakfast at the East Coast Credit Union Social Enterprise Centre in Antigonish.

Antigonish Lions' Club members prepared the meal, while Fred Alexander of One Stop Entertainment kept toes tapping and hands clapping with plenty of tunes.

Due to weather conditions and the forecast, the evening Canada Day activities scheduled for Columbus Field in Antigonish, including the traditional fireworks display, have been postponed until Tuesday (July 2). The timeline for the events will remain the same, starting with entertainment from 7:30 to 8:45 p.m., featuring Sparrow, followed by speeches and the presentation of the town's volunteer, youth and good neighbour of the year awards. Following more tunes from Sparrow, the fireworks will light up the sky at dusk.
