PICTOU, N.S. - As one of the hottest shows of the fall in 2017, the deCoste Performing Arts Centre is pleased to have the band Momentary Lapse back on stage for their tribute show to Pink Floyd Aug. 23, at 7:30 p.m., to close out a very successful Festival of Summer Sounds.
As executive director Troy Greencorn pointed out; “it’s incredible to see the amount and caliber of talent in Pictou County and the amazing home grown-productions.”
He is referring to the amazing audio and visual sensations the band have encompassed in to their show to give as authentic a ‘Pink Floyd’ concert as possible, without seeing the real band.
After being inspired by a concert in Toronto several years ago by Pink Floyd’s lead guitarist David Gilmore, Murray MacIvor began discussing with fellow friend and musician, Steve Keough, the possibility of starting a band that played only Pink Floyd songs. Once a few extra Nova Scotian musicians were approached to help round out the band (totaling 10), they began to practice for over two years until they felt they had perfected their performance.
They also sourced visual effects of lights and videos to help create that same experience given by a Pink Floyd show, until they felt they had enough to take it to a real stage. Their patience paid off as it proved to be a great success based on the sellout performance they had at the deCoste last year, and equivalent sales at other venues since then.
Adding to their song repertoire this time around, the band will play some of their favourites from classic Pink Floyd albums such as; The Dark Side of the Moon, Wish You Were Here, Animals, The Wall, Momentary Lapse of Reason and The Division Bell. Pink Floyd fans are encouraged to come out and feel the energy of this live show.
