We’re back today with another terrific “grown up” artist submission.
Weather by Day has long featured art by budding young artists, but recently, Cindy has met quite a number of “grown-ups” who have picked up crayons, pencils, markers or even paint brushes to find their focus.
If you’ve recently discovered your artistic talent or simply picked up a crayon for the first time in years, we’d like to feature your artwork on Weather By Day.
You can send a photo of a recent work of art along with a line or two about your inspiration or your reason for picking up the crayons after so many years to [email protected]
Today’s featured artist, Peggy Simpkin of Nova Scotia, said at age 62, she “decided it was time to do some things I had always wanted to do” and renew her childhood love of painting and sketching. It was a trip to the Grand Canyon that unlocked Peggy’s creative spirit.
Here’s an excerpt of what Peggy had to say:
“… One of my first paintings was of the travel to the Grand Canyon. I chose a photo from the trail that skirts the edge and looks into the deep valley below. I have to say I was hooked from then on as the painting came alive with each stroke. From there on I have loved painting. It’s been since January 2017, I have painted for my own benefit, trying different subject matter … Painting is a bearing of the soul.”
Great work, Peggy. We look forward to sharing your creations!
