PORT HAWKESBURY, N.S. — Michele Tabensky has announced she intends to seek the vacant seat on Port Hawkesbury town council in a special election scheduled for next month.
In a news release, Tabensky said she sees a positive and prosperous future for the town and is encouraged by the infrastructure investments over the last two years.
Tabensky, a small business owner, indicated she knows how a positive and co-operative attitude can help advance projects and wants to bring that attitude to council.
A lifelong resident of Port Hawkesbury, Tabensky said she was raised to give back to her community and this fall was awarded the True Rotarian award.
Tabensky said she will begin visiting residents this week, where she will listen first and then discuss her plans.
Today is the deadline for nominations and the list of electors. Advance polls will be held at the Shannon Studio at the Port Hawkesbury Civic Centre on Dec. 8 and Dec. 11, with the election day poll taking place Dec. 15 at the SAERC gymnasium. The election was made necessary when a former councillor moved outside of town.
