A Dartmouth man is facing charges of refusing to allow a blood sample after a crash that severed a power pole resulted in the closure of Windmill Road overnight Tuesday.

According to a Halifax Regional Police news release, power lines dropped down across the road after the collision. Windmill Road at Fernhill Drive was still closed to traffic in both directions early Wednesday morning while repairs were made.

"The 36-year-old driver from Dartmouth was arrested and was released to appear in court at a later date charged with refusal of a blood demand," the news release said.
