Driver charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle

The Southeast District RCMP is investigating following an off-road vehicle crash in Memramcook that left one man dead and another injured.

A three-year-old boy was killed in a single-vehicle collision in Antigonish County early Sunday afternoon.

Antigonish RCMP responded to the crash on South Side Harbour Road, just east of the town of Antigonish, at 12:10 p.m., police said in a news release.

There were three people in the vehicle and the driver, a 32-year-old Antigonish County woman has been charged with impaired operation of a vehicle with a blood alcohol level over 80 milligrams causing death, and impaired operation of a vehicle causing death.

Cpl. Jennifer Clarke of the RCMP said she could not disclose or speak about the relationship between the boy, who died at the scene, and the woman driving the vehicle.

An RCMP collision reconstructionist was called to examine the scene. South Side Harbour Road was closed for several hours while police were at the scene.
