CLEMENTSVALE, N.S. — A 42-year-old man from Clementsvale has been arrested on several charges, including assault with a weapon, after a three-day search in the Clementsvale area.
RCMP found the man on Virginia Road East late on the third day.
On Oct. 3 Annapolis District RCMP responded to a weapons complaint involving an adult male in the Virginia Road East area of Clementsvale, police said in a media release. RCMP attempted to locate the man but were not able to find him.
Police continued their search for the suspect on Oct. 4, interviewing several people and checking locations the man is known to frequent.
On Oct. 5 RCMP members with rifles were seen in the area and the Virginia Road was blocked off in the afternoon. At about 4 p.m., police arrested the suspect without incident on Virgina Road East in Clementsvale.
Annapolis District RCMP was assisted by members of Digby RCMP, RCMP Police Dog Services, RCMP Air Services and the Nova Scotia RCMP Emergency Response Team.
The Clementsvale man is being held in custody pending a court appearance on Oct. 7 in Digby Provincial Court.
He is facing charges of:
- Careless Use of a Firearm (2 counts)
- Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose (2 counts)
- Assault with a Weapon
- Unauthorized Possession of a Weapon
- Possession of a Firearm Knowing Possession is Unauthorized
The investigation is ongoing.
