Dartmouth woman charged with assaulting Halifax Transit driver

A Dartmouth woman is facing assault charges after a Halifax Transit driver was attacked Tuesday night.
 
Police were called to the bus parked on the 5400 block of Spring Garden Road at 9:20 p.m. 

"A Halifax Transit driver asked a female passenger to leave the bus after she had caused a disturbance on the bus. The female passenger then assaulted the bus driver," said a police news release. "The woman threatened and assaulted the responding officers. She was taken into custody and held to appear in Halifax provincial court."

Sophia Downey, 29, is charged with assault causing bodily harm, property damage, causing a disturbance, and uttering threats to cause bodily harm or death.
