Open auditions for the 2018 Music of the Night production – Hairspray – will be staged in the coming days.

The first session will take place Thursday (Sept. 13), from 6 to 8:30 p.m., in the Dr. John Hugh Gillis Regional High School music room in Antigonish.

The following evening – Friday, Sept. 14 – once again from 6 to 8:30 p.m. – the location will be the Chedabucto Place Performance Centre auditorium in Guysborough.

The final one is scheduled for Sunday, Sept. 16, from 1 to 4 p.m., in room 108 of St. F.X.’s Gilmora Hall (music building).

The widely popular Hairspray, which will be presented through a special arrangement with Music Theatre International (MTI), celebrates diversity in creating an important narrative around body image and racial equality.

Music of the Night is seeking performers of all ages, backgrounds and body types to participate in the production.

For the audition, performers are asked to be prepared to deliver a vocal piece that ‘best highlights your voice.’

You may be asked to sing music from the show.

Piano accompaniment will provided, while performers may also sing a Capella, use an instrument or instrumental track.

Shows for the Music of the Night production of Hairspray are scheduled for early February in Antigonish, Guysborough and Port Hawkesbury.

The annual Music of the Night production is a fundraiser for the Dr. John Hugh Gillis Regional High School band program.
