An elderly Newfoundland man died in a single-vehicle crash in eastern Cape Breton on Thursday evening. 

The 86-year-old man was a passenger in an SUV that went off the road on Hwy. 105 in Boularderie East near Big Bras d'Or. 

RCMP responded to the crash at 7:55 p.m. The investigation indicates the driver failed to negotiate a right turn. 

The driver, an 83-year-old from Ontario, suffered serious injuries. The passenger died in hospital Thursday evening. 

RCMP continue to investigate the crash.

Gleaned from release:   This morning, at approximately 9:25 a.m., officers responded to a single vehicle crash where a transport truck had overturned on Akerley Boulevard near Wilkinson Avenue, Monday April 15, 2024.The driver was taken to hospital with what are believed to be non-life-threatening injuries.   There will be no access inbound to Akerley Boulevard for an extended period of time, from either Highway 107 or Highway 118.
