ST. JOHN'S, N.L. — A popular breaded frozen chicken product is being recalled by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) over fear of Salmonella contamination.
The CFIA issued a recall on Janes brand uncooked pub style chicken nuggets and cutlettes in 800-gram packages with a best before date of Dec. 15, 2019.
Any products matching those descriptions should be thrown out or returned to the store where they were purchased.
The agency says there have been illnesses associated with the consumption of the product.
Food contaminated with Salmonella may not look or smell spoiled but can still make you sick. Young children, pregnant women, the elderly and people with weakened immune systems may contract serious and sometimes deadly infections. Healthy people may experience short-term symptoms such as fever, headache, vomiting, nausea, abdominal cramps and diarrhea. Long-term complications may include severe arthritis.
