Shots fired complaint in Barrington Passage leads to attempted murder investigation

BARRINGTON PASSAGE, N.S. — Charges, which includes attempted murder, are pending and a number of individuals are in custody as the RCMP investigates an incident of shots being fired in the area of the Scotts Mill Road.

The Barrington RCMP say at 10 a.m. on Feb. 13 they were called to several complaints of shots being fired.

In a media release the RCMP say their investigation revealed a Barrington Passage man had suffered a minor gunshot wound and other non life-threatening injuries.

The man was treated in hospital and has been released, say the RCMP.
The RCMP Southwest Nova Major Crimes Unit is investigating the incident and in their media release the RCMP say there are a number of suspects.

The RCMP obtained a warrant to enter a suspect's home on the afternoon of Feb. 14. The Barrington RCMP was assisted by the RCMP Emergency Response Team, Police Dog Services, and the Forensic Identification Unit.

The RCMP say four people have been arrested and are currently in custody, facing charges of attempted murder, plus several additional charges. The suspects and victim are known to each other and police say they have determined this was not a random act.

Names had not been released at the time of this posting as charges had not yet been filed with the court.
