A. FRANCIS SMITH

Funeral service for the late Archibald Francis ‘Frankie’ Smith, 75, Inverside, was held October 16 in St. Margaret of Scotland Church, Broad Cove, with Father Dan MacDonald officiating. Burial was in the parish cemetery.

Mr. Smith died October 12, 2019, in Inverness Consolidated Memorial Hospital.

Born May 3, 1944, he was a son of the late Alexander and Rita (Gillis) Smith. He worked as a lithographer in Toronto prior to returning to his roots in Cape Breton. He owned and operated a small family grocery store at Southwest Margaree for some years. He moved on to sales and management for Electrolux, before joining Scotsburn Dairy for 25 years until retirement. He also worked for Canada Post where he strived to fill the big shoes left by 'Joe the Mailman.’

He is survived by his wife, Kathleen (MacDonnell); three sons, Charles (Laurie), Sandy (Wendy), Robbie; two grandchildren, Taylor, Devin; brother, Allen (Eileen); two sisters, Marie (Pat), Aggie (James); four nieces, Trish Moran, Kim (Todd) DeMarco Meghan (Brett) Hershey, Laura (Michael) Illsley.

He was predeceased by his brother, AC; nephew, Andrew Moran.
