Alexander Duncan Williams

Funeral service for the late Alexander Duncan Williams, 81, Linwood, Antigonish County, was held October 18 in St. Lawrence Church, Mulgrave, with Reverend Donna Lovelace officiating. Burial was in Trinity United Church Cemetery, Mulgrave.

Mr. Williams died October 13, 2019, in the QEII Hospital, Infirmary Site, Halifax.

Born March 30, 1938, in Orangedale, Inverness County, he was a son of the late Albert and Elma (Taylor) Williams. He was raised in Mulgrave and later met and married Gladys Deveau. He was a town cop in Mulgrave many years ago, then spent many years working for CNR where he later retired. He was a lifetime member of the Kinsmen Club of Canada. He enjoyed baseball, helping others, road trips with his grandchildren and Cape Breton music.

He is survived by four children, Wayne (Cindy) Williams, Frankville; John Williams, Red Deer, Alberta; Donald (Randi) Williams, Millet, Alta.; April (Michael) Pettipas, Linwood; nine grandchildren, Courtney (Tom), Candace (Marc), Leah (Al), Mitchell (Katie), Shawn (Kim), Brennan, Will (Rhea), Alexander, Erika; three great-grandchildren, Peyton, Hazel, Jaxon; twin brother, Arthur, East Havre Boucher; sister, Anne-Marie (Gerald) Tibbo, Squamish, British Columbia; several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his wife, Gladys (Deveau); four brothers, Donald, Roy, Taylor, Don; two sisters-in-law, Kathleen, Vivian.

Memorial donations may be made to Trinity United Church of Mulgrave.
