Alfreda Moloney
Funeral service for the late Alfreda (Marchand), Moloney, Age 89, Blackstone, was held December 7 in St. Mary’s Church, Mabou, with Father Bernie MacDonald officiating. Burial will take place at a later date.
Mrs. Moloney died December 2, 2018, in Inverary Manor, Inverness.
Born April 23, 1929, in Randolph, near LaFountain, Ontario, she was a daughter of the late Helene (Belcourt) and Edilbert Marchand. She moved to Blackstone in 1971 with her husband and children, and had two more children after the move. Raised on a farm, she enjoyed her garden, flowers, animals and family sing-alongs. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
She is survived by 11 children, Marie (Sister Celeste), St. Agatha, Ontario; Cecilia, St. John’s, Newfoundland; John (Linda), Blackstone; Sister Angela, Vancouver, British Columbia; Pauline (Norm), Halifax; Stephen (Gloria), Saskatoon, Saskatchewan; Peter (Jenny), Terrace, B.C.; Patrick (Amanda), Calgary, Alta.; Hugh (Peggy), Cochrane, Alta.; Robert (Kieu), St. John’s, N.L.; Luke, Vancouver, B.C.; 13 grandchildren, Lacey, Amber, Brendan, Theresa, Mary Catherine, Karissa, Liam, Thomas, Kate, Sean, Rene, Jasmine, Rowan; many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Henry; four sons, Francis (Sadie), Thomas; Joseph and Joe R., in infancy; two daughters, Elizabeth and Janet, in infancy; five siblings, Father Evain, Fleurette, Evette, Bernard, Gilbert.
