Angus Bernard MacDonald

Funeral service for the late Angus Bernard MacDonald, 105, Inverness, was held December 15 in St. Peter’s Parish Church, Port Hood, with Fr. Vincent vanZutphen officiating. Mr. Mac Donald died December 11, 2018, in Inverary Manor, Inverness. Born August 6, 1913, he was the youngest son of Mary MacDonald (MacDonald) and Alexander MacDonald, Port Hood. He lived his entire life in Marble Hill, Port Hood and attended Port Hood Academy. He was a licensed electrician and plumber and oil burner mechanic, one of few tradespersons in Nova Scotia to have three Red Seal certifications. He retired at 90 and maintained an ongoing consultative role with family and friends. He had a genuine interest in everything and everyone, a strong work ethic, stoic personality, enjoyed storytelling, and had a remarkable memory and keen mind until the end. He made special trips, especially a return to Goose Bay, Labrador, where he worked during the Second World War. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. He is survived by 13 children, Alex (Sandra), Donelda (Craig), David (Sherry), Coline (James), Bernie, Joe, Bea (Todd), Maureen (Bob), Allan (Heather), Paul (Marguerite), Patricia (Steve); 23 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife on June 26, 2018, Annie Mae MacDonald (MacDonell); two sons, Bernard, Joseph, in infancy; two daughters-in-law, Mary, Elizabeth; four siblings, John A., Marcella, Dougald Joe, Angus Ronald, in infancy.
