ANNE A. MATHESON
Funeral service for the late Anne Alexandra (MacMillan) Matheson, 91, Aberdeen, Inverness County, was held June 12 in Little Narrows Presbyterian Church, Little Narrows, with Rev. Lydia MacKinnon officiating. A private family burial will be held at a later date.
Mrs. Matheson died June 7, 2019, in Inverness Consolidated Memorial Hospital.
Born February 16, 1928, in East Lake Ainslie, she was the daughter of the late Allan and Albin (MacLean) MacMillan. After completing high school, she graduated from Provincial Normal College in Truro. She returned to teach in numerous small one room schools in Inverness County. She got married on September 1, 1949, in a small ceremony at the MacMillan Farm in East Lake Ainslie. She devoted her life to raising her family. She enjoyed knitting, sewing and cooking.
She is survived by her husband of almost 70 years, Frank; son, Allan (Phyllis), Aberdeen; four daughters, Karen (Malcolm) MacKinnon, Cole Harbour; Judy (Milford) Austen, Antigonish; Connie (Duart) MacAulay, Aberdeen; Denise (Jeff) Beaton, Mabou Harbour; 18 grandchildren, Allison (Melvin) Nichols, Shane (Carleen) Matheson, Jody (Josh) Arenburg, Isaac (Lindsay) Matheson, Wade (Breann) Matheson; Lana (Chandler Haliburton) MacKinnon, Kyla (Taylor MacGillivary) MacKinnon; Devin (Zoë Fielding) Austen, Cory (Lindi Coyle) Austen, Bradley (Jill MacLaren) Austen; Breagh (Stephanie) Ouellet, Hilary MacAulay; Sawyer Beaton, Albin Beaton, Mason Beaton and Maeve Beaton; 16 great-grandchildren, Ainsley, Laird and Mairead Nichols; Mya Matheson; David, Murray, Anne Margaret and Mabel Arenburg; Randy and Shay Haliburton; Layla, Manton, Cora and James Austen; Piper and Ellie Austen, Violetta Austen; close family friends, Bruce and Dorothy MacLellan; two sisters-in-law, Verna MacMillan, Lake Ainslie; Mary Asaph, Baddeck; family friend, Joseph Boudreau.
She was predeceased by son, James; brother, Peter; in-laws, MayBelle Matheson, Chris and Norma Cameron, Jon and Douglas MacLeod, Harriet and Andrew Morrison, Jamie and Don Ross, Leonard Matheson and Wilfred Asaph.
