Barbara Diane Perry

Funeral service for the late Barbara Diane Perry, 68, Monastery, Antigonish County, was held January 7 in St. Peters Church, Tracadie, with Father John Barry and Father Danny Boudreau officiating, assisted by Deacon Art Riley.  Burial was in the parish cemetery.

Mrs. Perry died December 31, 2019.

Readers at the funeral Mass were Marian Mikkelson, Shirley Gavin and Laurie Durant. Lucas Perry, Caleb Turbide and Paige Turbide presented the offertory gifts. Altar servers were Donald Pitts and Myles Somers. Music was provided by Tyrus Wallace.

Active pallbearers were Theresa DeCoste, Shirley Boudreau, Ronda Rogers, Muriel Gorman, Florence Boudreau and Lila Beshong.

Honorary pallbearers were Jody Beshong, Randy Gavin, Ricky DeCoffe, Rick Perry, Eugene DeCoste and Jimmy MacEachern.

Born February 1, 1951, and raised in Monastery, she was one of 16 children of the late Edward and Martha (Bowie) DeCoste. She fished alongside her husband and subsequently her son for more than 25 years. From Calgary to the Shore, she took every opportunity to be with her family and took pleasure in being teased about her unique East Coast slang. She enjoyed playing cards.

She is survived by her husband of almost 50 years, Roy; son, Shawn (Sandi), Tracadie; daughter, Kimberly (Christian), Calgary; three grandchildren, Lucas, Caleb, Paige; five sisters, Shirley (William) Boudreau, Lila Beshong, Florence (Clifford) Boudreau, Muriel Gorman, Theresa DeCoste; four brothers, Lloyd (Shirley), Eddie (Margaret), Gerald, Eugene (Eleanor); aunt, Bessy Fougere.

She was predeceased by her grandson, Craig; three brothers, Vincent, Ralph, Ronnie; three sisters, Stella, Gloria, Gladys; several sisters and brothers-in-law.

Memorial donations may be made to St. Martha’s Regional Hospital Foundation.
