A graveside service for the late Bernice ‘Mary’ O’Laughlin, 86, Port Hawkesbury, was held July 9 in Union Protestant Cemetery, Port Hood. Mrs. O’Laughlin died July 4, 2018, in the Strait Richmond Hospital, Evanston. Born in Port Hood, Jan. 16, 1932, she was the daughter of the late John K. and Emma (Reynolds) Murphy. She was a member of Stella Maris Parish, Creignish, for many years, and during her working years worked very hard. As her health failed over the last four years, she was comforted by her three dogs Olie, Chloe and Hazel. She loved them very much. They were loyal companions and never left her side. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She is survived by her two sons, David (Merle) O’Laughlin, Alan (Darlene) O’Laughlin; five grandchildren, Kelly, Jessica, Brittany, Jonathan, Breanne; three great-grandchildren, Tyler, Justin, Piper; sister-in-law, Sadie Murphy. She was predeceased by five sisters, Myrna, Lurline, Gwen, Mildred, Katheline; three brothers, Kenny, Bowden, Dewey. Memorial donations may be made to Strait Richmond Hospital, or a charity of choice.
