Funeral service for the late Bernard Laughlin ‘Bernie’ MacPherson, 46, was held June 12 in St. Ninian Cathedral, Antigonish, with Father Lazarus Guria officiating, assisted by Father P.J. Baccardax and Deacon Art Riley. Mr. MacPherson died June 6, 2019. Readers at the funeral Mass were Helen Cameron, Kim Timmons and Cathy Ferguson. Ann Duncan and Leann Gillis presented the offertory gifts. Eucharistic ministers were Donnie and Linda MacPherson. Music was provided by Tyrus Wallace and violinist John Pellerin, with a musical prelude by Emery van de Wiel Active pallbearers were Mark MacPherson, Shane MacPherson, Glen Randall, Shawn DeWolfe, Austin MacPherson and Colby MacPherson. Honorary pallbearers were David Avery, David Ryan, Marshall Hassin, Andre DeWolfe, Matthew Baker, Joshua Timmons, Donnie McCarron, Terry Chisholm, Robert Asselstine, Bruce Asselstine and Jay Pierre. Born May 19, 1973, he was the son of Cynthia ‘Cindy’ (MacLean) and John MacPherson. He graduated from Dr. J.H. Gillis School in 1992, owned and operated the OutBack Car Wash, Antigonish, then moved to Fort McMurray, Alberta, where he was a heavy equipment operator. Besides his parents, he is survived by two sons, Austin and Colby, Antigonish; the mother of his sons, Melissa; special friend, Jodi Walton, and Camden; sister, Chevaunne (Jay Pierre); two nieces, Jade, Taylor, Calgary, grandparents, Betty and Bernard MacLean, Antigonish; many aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was predeceased by paternal grandparents, Marie (Olde Bolhaar) and Lauchie MacPherson. Memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation. Online condolences: www.clcurry.com
