Burton Ambrose Hines

Funeral service for the late Burton Ambrose Hines, 84, Linwood, Antigonish County, was held January 4 in Holy Trinity Anglican Church, Port Hawkesbury, with Reverend Sue Channen officiating.

Mr. Hines died December 31, 2019, in St. Martha's Regional Hospital, Antigonish.

Born August 18, 1935, in Lantz Siding, Hants County, he was a son of the late Earl Vincent and Gladys Pearl (Myers) Hines. He was a machinist by trade and worked at Stora Forest Industries. In younger years, he enjoyed relaxing at the cottage in Big Harbour with his wife and children. They always looked forward to summers with their grandchildren, Kisa and Lars, who came home from out west. In the winter, he enjoyed ice fishing with Roddy and often his daughter, Arlene. He also enjoyed playing cards and bridge. Throughout the years, he enjoyed many drives in the truck with his son, Mark to Newfoundland and across the Maritimes or tinkering around in the garage, splitting wood, keeping up with the yard work with his daughter Joan.

He is survived by two daughters, Arlene, Joan; son, Mark (Melissa); daughter-in-law, Gwyn; five grandchildren, Kisa (Jason), Lars (Amanda), Shawna (Mitchell), Jacqueline (Brennan), Ashley; seven great-grandchildren, Mac, Lochlen, Nolen, Griffin, Corbin, Beau, William; brother, Gordon; four brothers-in-law, Tony, Bill, Jack, Randy; three sisters-in-law, Doreen, Bernice, Marquita.

He was predeceased by his wife, Inez ‘Ivy’; eldest child and son, Wayne.

Memorial donations may be made to Holy Trinity Cemetery Fund.
