Funeral service for the late Caroline Elizabeth Walker, 77, Creignish, Inverness County, was held March 15 in Stella Maris Roman Catholic Church, Creignish, with Father Allan MacMillan officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery at a later date. Mrs. Walker died March 11, 2019, in Inverness Consolidated Memorial Hospital. Born in Inverness, she was a daughter of the late George and Elizabeth (Russell) Copley. She was very kind to the children of the community who would come to the rink, many referring to her as ‘Nanny Walker’. She had a passion for baking. Surviving are daughter, Rose ‘Cookie’ (Kiwi) Walker, Halifax; two sons, Neil Robert (Lina), Calgary; Jimmy, Creignish; six grandchildren, Carly Gillis, Rory Gillis, James Walker, Abby Walker, Alexander Walker, Matthew Walker; two sisters, Kay Ried, New Waterford; Genevieve MacMillan, Inverness; four brothers, Eddie (Marie) Copley, Russell (Trudy) Copley, Junior Copley, Jimmy (Ann) Copley, all of Inverness. She was predeceased by her husband, Geordie; two sisters, Jean Walker, Georgina Copley. Memorial donations may be made to Stella Maris Cemetery Fund, Creignish.
