Funeral service for the late Catherine Elizabeth ‘Kaye’ MacDonald, 70, Erinville, Guysborough County, was held January 22 in St. Thomas Church, Salmon River Lake, with Father Anthony O’Connor officiating. Mrs. MacDonald died January 16, 2019, at home. Readers at the funeral Mass were Roselle Lawler, Mary Cooke and Annette Hanifen. Altar servers were Roy Lawlor and Kenneth Farrell. Grandchildren Brandi Boudreau, Brianna Avery, Aaron Ellis and Cayden Will presented the offertory gifts. Eucharistic ministers were Rose Morrison and Eddie Hanifen. Music was provided by St. Thomas Church choir. Active pallbearers were Jack Ellis, Jesse MacDonald, Nic Grenier, Josh Avery, Robbie Carr and Kevin Topple. Honorary pallbearers were Doreen Boudreau, Doreen Carr, Mary Cooke, Ellie Farrell, Clem Grace, Marie Grady, Annette Hanifen, Roselle Lawlor, Marilyn MacDonald, Bessie Reddick and Linda Williams. Born April 19, 1948, in St. Francis Harbour, Guysborough County, she was a daughter of the late Ernest and Helena (Diggins) Carr. She worked for years doing traffic control with various companies. She went on to become a CCA and was employed at Milford Haven Home for Special Care for 22 years, until her retirement. She enjoyed playing Kinsmen Radio Bingo, bean bag toss, dancing, and she especially loved spending time with her family. She is survived by her husband, Rod; three daughters, Kim (John) Hillier, Alberta; Lisa (Archie) Avery, Pomquet; Rachel (Richard) Ellis, Florida; two sons, Jonathan (Amanda), Aaron (Nancy), both of Erinville; 14 grandchildren, Alex, Nic, Cayden, Josh, Brianna, Brennan, Jack, Aaron, Cindy (Cody), Brandi, Jesse, Landen, Liam, Katie; two sisters, Naomi DeCoste, St. Francis Harbour; Connie (Rick) Westendorf, British Columbia; brother, Sam (Frances) Carr, St. Francis Harbour; aunt, Gert Carr, St. Francis Harbour; brother-in-law, Pat (Marie) DeCoste, Frankville; sister-in-law, Millie (Jack) Forbes, Dartmouth; special nephew, Robbie Carr, St. Francis Harbour; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by great-granddaughter, Aubrey June Thomas; sister, Mary DeCoste; four brothers-in-law, Ed, Bern, Bob and Joe MacDonald; two sisters-in-law, Kaye Farrell, Mary Morrison.
