Catherine Marcella ‘Marcy’ Rankin

Funeral service for the late Catherine Marcella ‘Marcy’ Rankin, 83, was held March 12 in St. Mary’s Church, Mabou, with Father Bernie MacDonald officiating. Ms. Rankin died February 28, 2019, in Inverary Manor, Inverness. Born January 16, 1936, in Mabou, she was a daughter of the late Finlay and Margaret (Beaton) Rankin. Following the death of her parents, she was raised by her uncle Angus and aunt Sally ‘Central’ Beaton, and thoughtfully guided by her aunt, Sr. Anita Beaton. She was a flight attendant, giving her the opportunity to explore the world. She is survived by brother, Francis Xavier (Mary Catherine); sister, Anita (Don) MacDougall; seven Beaton cousins, who were like siblings, Margo Ross, Sandra Gergich, Allan Beaton, Helen Anne Bassani, Miriam Gillis, Lorraine Beaton, Norman Beaton; many nieces, nephews, cousins; longtime friend, Maria Braman. She was predeceased by brother, Allan John ‘AJ’; sister, Alexandra ‘Sandra’ Rankin; two cousins, Pat Beaton, Kevin Beaton. Memorial donations may be made to the Inverness Hospital Foundation.
