CHRISTINA ‘ANN’ KELLY

Christina ‘Ann’ Kelly

Funeral service for the late Christina ‘Ann’ Kelly, 73, Antigonish, was held October 24, in St. Ninian Cathedral, Antigonish, with Father Donald MacGillivray officiating. Burial was in the parish cemetery.

Mrs. Kelly died October 19, 2019.

Readers at the funeral Mass were Terry Broussard and Cecilia Delorey. Ann Sears, Jane Synishin and Irene Chisholm presented the offertory gifts. Eucharistic minister was Kathy Farrell. Music was provided by the St. Ninian’s Choir, Tom MacDonald and flutist Emery van de Wiel.

Pallbearers were David Kelly, Steven White, Donnie Kell, Jeff MacDonald, Doug MacDonald and Steve Brow.

Born in Antigonish, she was the daughter of the late William and Mary Ellen (Duggan) Kelly. She grew up in Glencoe, Guysborough County, and moved to town at a young age. After high school, she got her first job at Neil’s Gift Shop, following that she began her banking career. She worked for several banking institutions throughout Ontario, P.E.I., Newfoundland and Nova Scotia, retiring from Bergengren Credit Union, Antigonish, several years ago. She enjoyed her antiques and was an avid collector. She also loved gardening, travelling with her many close friends and listening to CBC radio. In the last number of years she was involved with St. Ninian’s CWL, making many a sandwich for funerals and forming friendships with the ladies she volunteered with.

She is survived by two brothers, Danny (Rita) Kelly, Halifax; Steve (Christine) Kelly, Antigonish; sister, Mary (late Jack) Kell, Antigonish; sister-in-law, Bessie Kelly, Antigonish; several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her brother, Maurice Kelly; nephew, Carmen Broussard; niece, Jacqueline (Kelly) Bennett.
