Funeral service for the late Christopher ‘Diggy’ Sylliboy, 43, Paqtnkek Mikmaw Nation, Antigonish County, was held December 8 in Immaculate Conception Church, Heatherton, with Father Andrew Gillies officiating. Burial was in St. Anne’s Cemetery, Summerside Road. Mr. Sylliboy died December 3, 2018, in QEII Health Services Centre. Readers at the funeral Mass were Nyesha Sylliboy, Kathleen Denny and Brenda Lafford. Brolly Julian, Keagan Julian and Ethan Paul-Sylliboy presented the offertory gifts. Music was provided by John R. Prosper and choir. Active pallbearers were Tma Francis, Jimmy Marshall, Darren Julian, Anoogwa Pictou, Walter Angevine and Chris Pictou. Honorary pallbearers were Peter C. Julian, Raymond Julian, Ernie Connors, Mary Ann Paul, Clara Prosper, Lisa Paul, Sarah Paul and Evelyn Paul. Born May 1, 1975, in Antigonish, he was a son of the late Stephen ‘Dio’ Simon and Anne Sylliboy. He worked at Paqtnkek Gas Bar for 13 years. He enjoyed reading Stephen King, doing crosswords and was a Star Trek fan. He loved his dog, Wa’pi’got. He is survived by six siblings, Virginia (Manny) Sylliboy, Paqtnkek; Peter Charles (Brenda) Julian, Paqtnkek; Kelly Julian, Sipekanekatik; Janine (Mike) Simon, Halifax; Amanda Simon, Eskasoni; Jimmy Marshall, Eskasoni; 12 nieces and nephews; three godchildren, Janissa Sylliboy, Timika Kabatay, Alayna Simon.
