Claude Melanson
Claude Joseph Melanson, 51, died August 8, 2018, in Niagara Falls, Ontario, from complications of diabetes. Born January 27, 1967, in Antigonish, he was a son of Joseph and Marie (DeYoung) Melanson, Pomquet, Antigonish County. He graduated from Antigonish Regional High School and went on to study graphic design and art. He worked as a graphic designer for several years with Central Supplies Limited, and The Guysborough Journal, before moving to Fort McMurray, Alberta, in 1998. He worked for Keyano College, and Printing Unlimited during his 19 years in Alberta. He was a passionate hockey fan, especially the Edmonton Oilers, and Wayne Gretzky. He was a Star Wars fan, an avid reader, enjoyed listening to and sharing his favourite music, loved animals, but was especially fond of golden Labrador retrievers. He was a very good artist and photographer. He was also an excellent cook, and enjoyed preparing meals for family and friends. He came home to Nova Scotia as often as possible, enjoying his visits with friends, siblings, nephews and most especially his parents. Besides his parents, he is survived by brother, Kenneth (Lori MacDonald), Truro; sister, Michelle Melanson; Niagara Falls, Ont.; two nephews, Luke, Matthew, Truro.
