CONSTANCE ANN ‘CONNIE’ MACDONALD

Constance Ann ‘Connie’ Macdonald

Funeral service for the late Constance Ann ‘Connie’ MacDonald, 105, Antigonish, was held December 2 in St. Ninian Cathedral with Father Bill Crispo officiating. Burial was in the parish cemetery.     

Mrs. MacDonald died November 27, 2019, in Green Meadows Community Residence, North Grant.     

Readers at the funeral Mass were Adriane MacDonald, Cara Jones and Liana Finucan. Music was provided by granddaughter Jenny MacDonald and St. Ninian Choir.     

Pallbearers were Ronald Bennett, Brian Bennett, Kyle MacDonald, Brandon Dort, Matthew Kaiser and Matthew Doherty.     

Born November 30, 1914, in Havre Boucher, Antigonish County, she was the daughter of the late William and Maggie (Crispo) MacEachern. She was a long-time school teacher, beginning her teaching career in a one room school at the age of 15. She met and married her husband, a fellow teacher, and together they raised a family of seven children while she continued to further her education and teach in elementary schools in Antigonish town and county. She and her husband loved to dance and they especially enjoyed their many winters in Florida.     

She is survived by seven children, Marlene (Mantis) Cheng, Victoria; Dorothy Kate MacDonald, Ottawa; Bernadette (Walter) Chambers, Wells, Massachusetts; Gregory (Marion) MacDonald, Weymouth; Ian (Patricia) MacDonald, St. Albert, Alberta; Heather (Brian) Robertson, Kingston, Ontario; George B. (Patricia) MacDonald, Antigonish; 17 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; sister, Beatrice Bennett, Guysborough.     

She was predeceased by her husband, Robert; two brothers, Joe and Harold MacEachern; two sisters, Martha MacDonald, Mae MacIsaac.
