Born December 27, 1949, in Baddeck, he was a son of the late Jesse Belle MacAskill and John L. Christie of Englishtown. He was an adventurer, loved the outdoors and found peace in working with nature. He worked as a computer technician in his early 20s and boasted about his tech skills. Ed, and Masters from St. Thomas University in Fredericton, New Brunswick. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Br. 19, North Sydney. He found a passion in learning Mi’kmaq history and dedicated his life to teaching. As a teacher, he worked in Seoul, Korea, for a year, and many Northern Remote Communities, and We’Koqma’q First Nations. He helped to shape the Adult Education Program in We’Koqma’q. He was also a very talented craftsman. His work was unique and created one-of-a-kind pieces that inspired his connection to his vision with nature.
