Funeral service for the late Dona Darlene Stone (Pelly), 55, Antigonish, was held July 25 in St. James United Church with Reverend Peter Smith officiating. Burial was in St. Ninian Cemetery. Ms. Stone died July 21, 2018, in St. Martha’s Regional Hospital, Antigonish. Readers at the funeral service were Junior MacLellan, Mike MacDonald and Connie Pelly. Music was provided by Tyrus Wallace. Urn bearers were Brian Pelly-Skinner, Amy Lynn Pelly and Taylor Stone. Honorary pallbearers were Suzanne Melanson, Mike MacDonald, Sheila MacPherson, Trevor VanDyke, Melvin Skinner and Bruce Stone. Born in Antigonish, she was a daughter of Gladys (Brody), Antigonish, and the late Walter Pelly. She was raised in Beech Hill, but made the decision to move and raise her family in London, Ontario, before ultimately returning to Antigonish. When not taking care of her family, she worked in the food service and customer service industries - most recently as a cashier in customer service with Sobeys in Antigonish. Known for her great sense of humour, infectious smile, and willingness to help others, she never missed an opportunity to try to make someone’s day a little brighter. In her free time, she enjoyed baking, cooking for her family, and looking after her little dog, Ruby. Besides her mother, she is survived by her companion, Albert ‘Junior’ MacLellan; four children, Brian (Lorraine) Pelly-Skinner, Calgary; Amy Lynn Pelly (Trevor), Taylor Stone, Michael Pelly, all of London, Ontario; three grandsons, Brandon, Mikey, Aaden, all of London, Ont.; three brothers, Steve (Patricia) Pelly, Halifax; Allan (Kelly) Pelly, Brampton, Ont.; Terry Pelly (Ruth Young), Antigonish; four sisters, Mary (Daniel) Girroir, Juanita (Kevin) Pelly, Debby, all of Antigonish; Patricia (TJ) Cloukey, Halifax; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by son, Joshua; two sisters, Hattie Reddick, Theresa Pelly; maternal grandmother, Bertha Pelly.
