Donald Ivan ‘Donnie’ Mackay
Funeral service for the late Donald Ivan ‘Donnie’ MacKay, 69, St. George’s Channel, Richmond County, was held February 9 in Black River United Church, Black River, with Reverend Donna Lovelace officiating. Burial will be in MacKay Cemetery, St. George’s Channel, at a later date. Mr. MacKay died February 5, 2019, in Strait Richmond Hospital, Evanston. Born March 30, 1949, in Arichat, he was a son of the late William Daniel ‘Willie’ and Jessie Christine (MacDonald) MacKay. He was a proud member of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters Union for 50 years. He enjoyed sawing wood at his mill, hunting, playing cards, driving around visiting and especially sitting on the veranda whittling folk art. He is survived by his wife, Yvonne (LaFosse); two daughters, Jennie and Cindy MacKay; son, Robert (Pam); two grandchildren, River MacKay, Jennifer Law; two great-grandchildren, Bryce, MacKenzie; sister, Valerie (Barry) George; many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. He was predeceased by brother, Gary MacKay; sister, Christine MacKillop; brother-in-law, Ronald MacKillop; mother and father-in-law, George and Ruby (Snow) LaFosse; many aunts and uncles.
