Douglas F. McKenna

Funeral service for the late Douglas F. McKenna, 47, Glen Aire Estates, Lower South River, Antigonish County, was held July 16 in St. Ninian Cathedral, Antigonish, with Father Donald MacGillivray officiating. Burial was in the parish cemetery. Mr. McKenna died July 13, 2018, in St. Martha’s Regional Hospital, Antigonish. Readers at the funeral Mass were Kim McKenna, Monica Kennedy and Darlene McKenna. Mariah MacDonald, Leslie Landry and Layla Landry presented the offertory gifts. Music was provided by Ty Wallace. Pallbearers were Darrin McKenna, Dave Mattie, Shane DeCoste, George Bowie, Allister Bowie and Brad Landry. Born Sept. 20, 1970, and raised in Brierly Brook, he was a son of Patrick and Melinda McKenna, Tracadie. He loved sports, especially the Toronto Maple Leafs and Toronto Blue Jays. Besides his parents, he is survived by daughter, Mariah MacDonald, Tracadie; two granddaughters, Leslie Landry, Tracadie; Layla Landry, South River; sister, Darlene McKenna (Shane DeCoste), Dartmouth; brother, Darrin (Sheila), Herndon, Virginia; longtime friend, Dave Mattie. He was predeceased by daughter, Robin Landry; son, Nico Landry; grandparents, Gertrude and Simon Bowie; Dorothy and Gerald McKenna. Memorial donations may be made to the charity of choice.
