Funeral service for the late Evelyna ‘Anne’ Chisholm, 70, Harbour Centre, Antigonish, was held June 14 in St. Ninian Cathedral with Father Donald MacGillivray officiating, assisted by Father Peter MacDonald. Burial was in the parish cemetery. Mr. Chisholm died June 9, 2018, at home. Readers at the funeral Mass were Paul Landry, Karen Turner and Anita Driscoll. Emily and Shelby Chisholm and Nahla and Kieran Mawji presented the offertory gifts. Music was provided by Margaret MacGregor MacDonald and Denis Ryan. Urn Bearer was Martina MacLean. Honorary pallbearers were Edith Smith, Emma Lee MacDonald, Anita Driscoll, Breeda McDonnell, Janine George, Joyce Mbugua, Margaret MacLellan and Suzanne Edwards. Born April 22, 1948, in Washabuck, Cape Breton, she was a daughter of the late Josephine (LaRusic) and Joseph MacLean. Her devotion to academics earned her many achievements, including the St. F.X. Silver Medal at her graduation from nursing in 1996. She gave her energy and creativity to countless volunteer endeavours, including St. Martha’s Hospital Auxiliary, Scouts Canada, St. Ninian’s Parish, the Antigonish Food Bank, and L’Arche Antigonish. She is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Donald and Kellie Chisholm, Antigonish; daughter and son-in-law Julie Chisholm and Aly Mawji, Halifax; six grandchildren, Emily, Shelby, Ryan, Nahla, Kieran, Jasper; six sisters, Sandra (David) Stevens, Halifax; Alice (Bruce) Campbell, Calgary; Martina MacLean, Calgary; Joanne (Andrew) Dalton, Halifax; Theresa (Anthony) MacIsaac, Halifax; Maureen (Darrell) MacLean-May, Calgary; brother, Jim MacLean, Halifax; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband of 39 years, John W. Chisholm. Memorial donations may be made to L’Arche Antigonish, the Antigonish Food Bank, or VON Antigonish.
