EARL HILTZ

Earl Hewitt Hiltz, 79, died August 11, 2018, in the Palliative Care Unit, Saint Martha’s Regional Hospital, Antigonish. Born November 9, 1938, in New Ross, Lunenburg County, he was a son of the late LeRoy and Lillian (Keddy) Hiltz. He worked in several jobs throughout the Maritimes, before settling in Antigonish in 1965, where he began a long career with St. Francis Xavier University. He celebrated early retirement from the university in February of 1995, after 30 years with the maintenance department. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and playing cards. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Alice (Bezanson); three sons, Jeffrey (Michelle), Cape Dorsett, Baffin Island; Wendell, Coquitlam, British Columbia; Shane, at home; daughter, Helen Ann, Fredericton, New Brunswick; two grandchildren, Jamie, Connor; brother, Clayton, Saskatchewan; special foster daughter, Tiffani; special foster children, Ruthie, Angie, Pace, Rowyan; many more foster children. He was predeceased by three brothers, Harley, Robie, Paul; two sisters, Jean Corbin, Marian MacDougall.
