Edith Anne (Reid) Volk

Funeral service for the late Edith Anne (Reid) Volk, 85, Eight Island Lake, Guysborough County, formerly of Trenton, Pictou County, was held January 24 in St. Patrick’s Church, Lochaber, with Father Charles Cameron officiating. Burial will be in St. Patrick’s Parish Cemetery at a later date. Mrs. Volk died January 19, 2019, at home. She was a daughter of the late Aulden and Clara (Martel) Hensbee. She raised 10 children and operated the general store on Trenton Road for many years. She also baked at the Green Thumb. She married Ron in 1982 and spent the last number of years in Goshen. She enjoyed gardening, making quilts and tole painting. She was a member of the Goshen Seniors Group where she loved to play games and cards. She was a strong believer in the Roman Catholic faith. She is survived by her husband, Ron; three sons, Lennie (Sue), Ricky, Aulden (Barb); two stepsons, Tommy Volk, Alan Volk; seven daughters, Sandy Reid, Pam Reid, Carole (Lee) Smith, Darlene (Phil) Peters, Joan (John) MacDonald, Debra (Carl) Hughes, Bonnie (Wayne) Yausie; two stepdaughters, Cheryl Elliott, Karen MacGregor; 30 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; four sisters, Joan Jordan, Delores Bailey, Betty Fraser, Elsie Hughes; many nieces, nephews and their families.
