Funeral service for the late Effie Glenn, 97, Pomquet, Antigonish County, was held March 20 in Ste Croix Church, Pomquet, with Father Andrew Gillies officiating, assisted by Father PJ Baccardax and Deacon Art Riley. Burial will be in the parish cemetery in the spring. Mrs. Glenn died March 16, 2019. Readers at the funeral Mass were Debra Pinkohs, Nicole Mattie and Dana Deon. Rachel Deon and Jalysa Mattie presented the offertory gifts. Music was presented by organist Carmel MacPherson and Pomquet Choir. Eucharistic minister was Joan Glenn. Active pallbearers were Shane Glenn, Chris Glenn, Troy Feltmate, Sandy Snyder, Trevor Deon and Luke Mattie. Honorary pallbearers were Kale Venedam, Brody Venedam, Logan Mattie-Nicholson, Maya Feltmate, Ethan Pinkohs, Jennifer Deon and Tyler Deon. Born March 14, 2922, in Fairmont, she was a daughter of the late Alexander and Jessie (Stewart) MacMillan. Effie was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She is survived by three sons, Frank (Helen), Jim, Tom, all of Pomquet; eight daughters, Mary, Heatherton; Linda, Guysborough; Jessie (Jimmy), Fredericton; Sheila (Bill), Antigonish; Donna, Antigonish; Janie (Daryl), Pomquet; Helen (Gary), Darlene (Danny), both of Monastery; 24 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Tom; two daughters, Debby, Donelda; three sons-in-law; seven brothers, Dan, Mackie, Sander, Johnny, Cameron, Allie, Elmer; eight sisters, Mae, Pearl, Maggie, Kay, Flo, Betty, Ruthie, Gerry.
