Eldridge Feltmate
Funeral service for the late Eldridge Arthur Feltmate, 83, Antigonish, formerly of Eight Island Lake, Guysborough County, was held July 8 in Bethel Community Church, Lochiel Lake, with Pastor Freda Steeves and Pastor Jerry Sterns officiating. Mr. Feltmate died June 27, 2019, in St. Martha’s Regional Hospital, Antigonish. Born in Antigonish, he was a son of the late John and Essie (Stewart) Feltmate. He worked as a laborer in the woods for local contractors in the Goshen area, of which 27 years were with Murray Feltmate. He was a jack of all trades and enjoyed working on old cars and trucks. He was known as the ‘King’ of the blueberry fields in Country Harbour. He was a faithful member of Bethel Community Church, Lochiel Lake. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Charlotte (Taylor); two sons, Randi (Lori), Eight Island Lake; Rubin (Rose), New Glasgow; daughter, Ellen (Clint) Boutilier, Frasers Mountain; two grandchildren, Amanda (David) Burns Watson; Beverly (Sandra) Burns Clemons; six step-grandchildren, Tyler Campbell; Samantha Cochrane; Maggie and Brooke Feltmate; Jodi and Holly Boutilier; five step great-grandchildren, Max Campbell; Caleb, Mia and Lani Coolen; Dakota and Kaylin Sponagle; three brothers, Ken (Christine), Pictou; Gary (Edie), Caribou; John Francis (Marion), Scotsburn; sister, Thelma (Wade) Chenell, Magdalen Islands; several nieces, nephews and their families. He was predeceased by daughter, Annette; granddaughter, Nancy Burns; three brothers, Stewart, Jackie, Joe; sister, Janet Feltmate.
