Funeral service for the late Elinor Whitty, 65, was held October 21 in C.L. Curry Funeral Home, Antigonish, with Deacon Art Riley officiating. A private family burial will be held in Stewartdale Cemetery, Whycocomagh, at a later date. Ms. Whitty died October 15, 2018, in Dartmouth. Readers at the funeral service were Janet Proctor, Ethel Whitty and Kim Sinclair Whitty. Music was provided by violinist John Pellerin, Shanthi Besso, Kate Proctor and Jane Proctor. Born September 9, 1953, in Sydney, she was a daughter of the late George and Effie (Morrison) Whitty. In her teen years, she enjoyed singing with local band Monopoly in Sydney and continued to enjoy singing karaoke throughout her life. She lived in Ontario for many years. She worked at Xerox Canada in Toronto for eight years, before moving to Kitchener to raise her children and work part-time. She is survived by her son, Edward ‘Ted’ (Ashley) Cooper, Kitchener; daughter, Kate Cooper, Kitchener; two grandchildren, Jack and Jonah Cooper; three brothers, Donald (Helen) Whitty, Toronto; Arlen (Lena Cameron) Whitty, Sydney; Gerard, Coquitlam, British Columbia; three sisters, Janet (Walter) Proctor, Antigonish; Marian (Peter) van Leeuwen, Burnaby, B.C.; Ethel (Colin MacNeil) Whitty, Vancouver; many nieces and nephews.
